The Change You Desire...

If you have reached a point in your life where you're sick and tired of the status quo, then you are in a perfect position to implement change. If you're stuck in a perpetual cycle of getting the same results, no matter what you've tried, it may be time to finally take action and do something about it. Don't be consumed by what hasn't worked. In fact, you should celebrate knowing what hasn't worked because it serves as an indication that you're still in the game and are not about to waste any more time with unproductive efforts that yield little to no results.

Take a deep breath, step back, and take the time to gather perspective. As we take the time to reflect on our lives and examine the things that haven't worked to our satisfaction, we become more aware of our errors in judgment and more aware that each error really does matter. Errors matter because they provide insight to the things that are incongruent with our lives. Only then can we make the necessary adjustments that add value to our lives and place us back on a path to happiness.

The differences in the rules of success and failure are so subtle that it takes an aware mind to tell the difference. So how can we change the errors and miscalculations that have resulted in failure to a more positive formula of success? Simply by making the present moment more a part of our lives. Stepping into an awareness of the present moment brings clarity and perspective to the forefront. Having clarity allows us to discover our purpose and provides a perspective that is nearly impossible to obtain otherwise.

One of the most exciting aspects of the formula for success and happiness is that the results are immediate. Yes, immediate! As we change or realign our daily beliefs and behaviors, we begin to experience positive and empowering results immediately. These results are often difficult to recognize at first...unless you are ready to recognize them. Half the battle in recognizing the changes is to be in a state of true readiness and expectation. If you are in a state of readiness and expectation, your awareness is operating at peak performance and you will simply recognize things easier. By the way, it's OK to expect good things to come to you. Remember, however, the messages you send out will return to you (very often in overwhelming abundance), so you should expect the return. My only caution is to be very aware of the kinds of messages you are sending, as your return will be very much the same as the messages you send forth. The old adage of "Be careful what you wish for," applies here.

All too often we believe that, in order to experience significant changes in our lives, we must implement radical behavioral and mindset changes. While radical changes may indeed result in some change, they typically don't yield the results we seek in terms of a lasting and positive transformation. It is the subtle changes that typically yield the best and most lasting results. These changes come in the form of new disciplines we must be ready and willing to adopt in order to escape the bonds of our current circumstances.

The magic of new disciplines is that they cause us to shift our thinking in ways that transform us. Think about the new disciplines your life is calling you to make. If you truly recognize them you will see that the changes your life is calling for are not unrealistic and are often small changes (shifts) that will lead to huge differences in the results you are used to getting.

Here's a practical exercise you can do that demonstrates my point: Begin with a subtle change in your posture. Instead of walking into work tomorrow in your typical tired manner, try to consciously change the position of your posture. Stand just a bit taller, lift your chin ever so slightly, smile, make eye contact, and breathe a bit deeper. You won't even have to say anything different and people will notice. The most important aspect of this exercise is that you will notice. And you will immediately feel better about yourself. This is an immediate change that will empower you and compel you to seek other subtle ways in which to change the course of your life. Who knows, it could actually be The Change You Desire.

Until next time...

Permission to Soar!

What is your wildest dream, your biggest goal, or the one thing you desire more than most anything else? As you watch the images of your dreams play out in your mind, be quick to grab hold of the way you feel. Don’t let go and give yourself permission to soar on the possibilities. Savor the way it makes you feel. Are you energized? You should be. Do you realize that you can “feel” this way any time you want?

If our dreams, goals, and aspirations make us feel so great then why aren’t we riding them more often? It’s time to conduct a quick assessment on where we are versus where we desire to be…or who we desire to become. Are you moving closer to your objectives? Some may answer “yes, but…” If your answer is the same or anything less, perhaps you’re not giving yourself permission to soar.

Think for a moment about the way you feel when your dreams are at the forefront of your mind. Our minds create an image that ignites passion which, in turn, stimulates a physical response that produces endorphins that bring about clarity and creativity. If you’re like me, the drive and passion are so intense during those moments that there’s nothing that can derail or prevent me from grabbing the next rung of the ladder to my objective, no matter what it takes. Something happens when the ideals of our dreams, goals, and desires line up with the mind, body, and spirit. That “something” is called synergy!

Synergy is the interaction of two or more substances, entities, or agents to produce an effect far greater than the sum of their distinctive parts. Simply put, synergy is power. It’s a power every one of us possesses. You can experience synergy anytime you wish. It’s true.

The source of synergy is imagination. Try this – go back to the opening paragraph and tap into the images that support your greatest desires. As soon as you “see” the images you begin the process of your own synergy. Now, rinse, lather, and repeat…and repeat…and repeat. It’s the way habits are formed. What better habit to form than one that’ll literally change the course of your life?

Synergy is limited only by our own ability to allow it to multiply. In other words, if we get out of our own way and open our minds to the fact that we can achieve anything we desire, our imaginations will be free to show us more than we can already imagine. It has been said that our subconscious cannot discern the difference between fact and fiction. By continually tapping into our imaginations we feed and convince our subconscious of the reality we desire. So why not have fun with this and convince it of where you want to go instead of where you are and who you wish to become rather than who you currently are? It’s the beginning of a path to greatness and is a law of nature that will work for any one of us.

Until next time...

Happiness is the Key!

One of the most common traits I see among successful people is a foundation of genuine joy. Oh sure, they’re happy because they’re successful, right? Wrong! They’re successful because they’re happy.

Most people find success by doing something they enjoy. They operate in the lane of their purpose. We all have a purpose in life. Some of us have discovered it while others have yet to do so. Fulfillment of one’s purpose brings true joy to those fortunate enough to have enjoyed the price of success. Notice I didn’t say “paid” the price, because success is a journey that should be enjoyed.

Life was meant to be enjoyed, savored, and cherished. Laughter itself is contagious and is known to have inherent healing power and mood altering effects. Try it yourself. Next time you’re not feeling so well or find yourself in a less than desirable mood, find a private restroom with a mirror, lock the door behind you and make silly faces in the mirror. I guarantee you’ll laugh. At the very least, you’ll smile at just how ridiculous you look as you attempt to make yourself laugh. You may in fact be thinking at this very moment how ridiculous (and funny) that could actually be. Hopefully the thought of it made you smile. And test me on this – see if you don’t experience a noticeable change in your overall well-being because of it.

Laughter begets laughter. When you’re around someone who is a joy to be around, you cannot help but smile and feel better. When you’re around laughter, you tend to be drawn to the energy perpetuated by that joy. I know that all too well because I’m married to one of the most genuinely joyous persons I have ever met.

Wanna be successful and make more money? Sounds kind of like a cliché, but if you find joy, you’ll find success. If you haven’t already discovered it, look for your purpose and begin to find things that support that purpose and you’ll begin to discover a newfound joy. Who knows, you may even discover a new career or lifestyle that makes you happier than you ever thought possible.

True joy produces an attraction energy that brings with it the seeds of opportunity, clarity, peace, and more joy. People resonate with those who are truly happy. They tend to want to be around those who are joyous.

So smile…better yet, smile big enough to make someone else smile!

Until next time!
